IIJA offers E-Mail Defense service to protect the users from unwanted spam messages. The same service is available to customers regardless of their sizes and e-mail environment.

One customer was satisfied with the day-to-day operation of their e-mail server but was facing challenges with spam messages.

Mail environment:

Total number of messages per day: 110,000 messages (80% of which were viruses or spam)
Total number of employees: 3,000 employees
Firewall and e-mail server operated by the customer

Issues:

Large volume of incoming messages require higher end firewall and e-mail server
Large amount of network bandwidth wasted
Delivery delay caused by inability to handle large volume of messages
Requires regular investment in software and hardware upgrades to stay up-to-date with the latest threats such as phishing

IIJA offered the following solution to solve customer's spam problem, as well as to ease heavy load on the infrastructure.

E-Mail Defense service through MXLogic, an IIJA partner provider (only requires a change in MX record)
Includes 3 virus scanning engines in addition to the spam filter
FailSafe Spool function stores up to 5 days of messages in the event of e-mail server failure
Each user has an access to their own web management console

IIJA's Email Defense service only requires a modification in the MX record to route the e-mail destination. There is no need to change the network configuration on the customer's end.

Out of a total 110,000 e-mails, roughly 90,000 (approximately 80%) were viruses or spam. These unnecessary data no longer reached the perimeter firewall or the e-mail server.
Freed up resources for the Internet connection, firewall and e-mail server.
Source IP address restrictions eliminate the chances of e-mail servers used for open SMTP relay.
Reduction in hardware and software investment and maintenance expenses.
High filtering accuracy attributed to the latest filtering technology.
Up to 5 days of unlimited messages can be spooled in a case of e-mail server failure.
Upon recovery of the e-mail server, mail inflow is controlled to prevent the e-mail server overload.
Each user has access to his own personal web interface to check quarantined messages. The setting is configurable by each user.

MX Logic's industry leading spam filtering technology eliminated spam messages with high accuracy. The customer also benefited from reduction in Internet connection usage and processing load on the corporate e-mail servers.
